One of the most important things is to have a decent torch in good, working order ... through no fault of your own you might end up being out on the hills later than you think.

(Read a few incident reports from Keswick Moutain Rescue Team and you'll see that the lack of torches
crops up time & again for parties who got delayed or were benighted).


Nowadays there are some fantastic torches on the market for much less than the price of a tank of fuel

... and they'd make great a Christmas present for any fellwalker, too!


So, stay safe this winter ... be properly prepared for the hills ... and have a great time out there!
