"NEWS - " Will Sim - Alpinism

17/02/2012

On Wednesday 15 February, at the Saints Rooms in Cockermouth, one of Britain's best young Alpine-style climbers is giving an illustrated talk.

Will is based in St Bees and Chamonix and has made impressive ascents in Patagonia and Alaska.

With over 20 Grandes Courses to his name - The Eiger, Grandes Jorasses, Les Drus etc - what's most interesting about Will's climbing is that he aims to travel fast and light.

He climbs with professional photographer, Jonathan Griffith, so the photos he will show are high quality - not the usual climbers 'holiday snaps.'

The talk will cover a little of British climbing, then the Alps, (including. quick ascents of test pieces such as 'No Siesta' on the Jorasse), first ascents in Patagonia and a very quick ascent of Denali in Alaska.

Will is a modest lad, but knows his stuff and his interest in doing these talks is to reach non-climbers as well as climbers - so the talk should appeal to all.
