Our famous Boot Room is so well known that people travel from across the UK to have their boots fitted here. In addition we offer a number of unique George Fisher services including ski hardware service, equipment hire and waterproof testing.
Visit us in Keswick or shop online for outdoor, climbing, walking and camping equipment. We have huge stocks of waterproof jackets and pants, boots, ice axes, all kinds of travel accessories, maps, books, rucksacks, backpacking, trekking and mountaineering gear at great prices.

The George Fisher building in Keswick was built in 1887 and is steeped in history, having been the famous Abraham's Photographic shop. We have many of their iconic images of early mountaineering on display

Ski Service
George Fisher is the only retail shop in the Lake District to have a Wintersteiger stone grinder, the world’s number one brand. Our ski technicians have completed technical training courses in the use of the Wintersteiger machine, allowing them to carry out all sorts of ski repairs & servicing.
Equipment Hire
At George Fisher, we like to ensure that everybody is properly equipped. To help you to have a safe day out on the fells you can hire Walking Boots and Child Carriers
Adult's Boot Hire £15 per Week
Children's Boot Hire £10 / Week
Child Carriers £15 per Week
Prior reservation is not necessary but we do recommend it during school holidays & Bank Holidays. Email or 'phone beforehand to avoid disappointment.
Waterproof Testing
We have a sophisticated hydrostatic head testing machine capable of replicating water pressures far in excess of anything you're likely to encounter outdoors. Unless we're very busy in store you can watch us test your waterproof while you wait - it doesn't even have to have been bought from us.

Good morning,
I recently ordered an Osprey backpack through your website and would just like to say how pleased I was with the service for this order.
Not only was the price for the bag excellent, it arrived quicker than I expected from a free delivery service (I ordered it on a Wednesday evening, 25th Jan, and it arrived mid-day on Friday 27th).
Also, the packaging was secure but not excessive as it can often be for this kind of parcel.
I would certainly shop through your website again, and will recommend that others do as well.
