Born in 1974, Osprey was the inadvertent result of a Californian design student indulging in his passion for the outdoors. At the age of 20 Mike Pfotenhauer found that designing and making his own rucksacks was much more enjoyable than buying them. Mike’s packs soon got people talking, and it wasn’t long before Osprey could be found on the walls of many specialist American outdoor retailers.
Now Osprey is truly a global brand, it certainly hasn’t forgotten its roots in backpacking
New this year, the ultralight Levity 45 has been designed for the minimalist backpacker for whom saving weight is everything. It’s a masterpiece of material, design, and comfort through ventilation.
The new packs are built using Osprey’s NanoFly fabric which is extremely lightweight, durable and abrasion resistant. Levity packs are equipped with an AirSpeed suspended mesh ‘trampoline’ back system plus the ExoForm hipbelt and harness, providing excellent padding and highly effective load transfer into the body’s strongest muscles while keeping you cool and comfortable all day.
Ideal for experienced backpackers looking to drop those grams
Minimalist multi-day hikers will find the Levity 45 to be the perfect lightweight pack as it’s been ruthlessly designed with purely the essential features, in order to minimise weight and maximise performance. Each pack has dual-access fabric side pockets with InsideOut compression cords, removable side compression cords, a large bellows front pocket, an internal hydration sleeve and internal compression strap system, plus loops on the top, front and base for lashing extra items to if needed.
