GORE-TEX clothing and footwear uses a durably waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane, laminated to special textiles. This helps to keep you dry, inside and out. The outer fabrics are treated with a durable water repellent finish (DWR), which forces water to bead away when it rains, preventing it from saturating the outer textiles, while also allowing water vapour to escape.

With rainy and dirty conditions, over time the finish can wear away, causing the outer textiles to
absorb water rather than repelling it. This reduces the performance of your garment as it holds the moisture on the outside, affecting your gear’s breathability and leaving you feeling clammy on the inside.

Step 1: Grangers Performance Wash Cleaning can restore the water-repellent finish of your GORE-TEX clothing. GORE-TEX and Grangers always recommend that you clean your clothing before reproofing, as dirt can clog the membrane, affecting breathability and any existing water repellency. Using Performance Wash is easy, in your domestic washing machine.

Step 2: Clothing Repel This is a reproofing wash-in treatment that’s formulated to restore the DWR of all GORE-TEX clothing. Use after cleaning with Performance Wash; on a full cycle in your washing machine, according to
the GORE-TEX care instructions with your garment. Leave to air dry; if you have access to a tumble dryer, dry for 15-20 minutes.
