Arc'teryx: New and Newer

Image for article Arc'teryx: New and Newer

This winter we’re pleased to have a few old favourites in store, plus some exciting new options. One of our biggest favourites is the Arc’teryx Alpha SV Jacket, a hard-wearing GORE-TEX® Pro hard shell designed for extended use in severe wintry conditions (SV means Severe Weather in Arc’teryx-speak).

It’s an iconic design repeatedly proven in hard mountain environments, and is now stronger and lighter. The waterproof/breathable 3-layer GORE-TEX® Pro fabric is exceptionally durable, with significantly increased abrasion resistance, while features include WaterTight zippers with RS sliders, minimised seams, a helmet-compatible StormHood, pit zips, and articulated arms and shoulders. The Alpha SV remains our choice for extended use in the hardest conditions.

Newer into George Fisher are the excellent Arc’teryx base layer garments, using wool or synthetic fabrics. The Satoro AR Zipneck is a midweight garment designed for prolonged backcountry use, using exclusive Nucliex STR 180 Merino wool. Each Nucliex yarn is created by wrapping Merino fibres around a nylon filament to combine the natural comfort, efficiency and odour resistance of wool with the strength and durability of the nylon core. Added elastane fibres maintain a next-to-skin fit; a tall collar adds warmth, and a deep V-neck unzips for rapid ventilation.

For more aerobic activities, the Phase SL garments are silk-weight base layers that rapidly wicks moisture and stretches with the body. The synthetic Phasic SL yarns speed dry times, improve moisture transfer and add comfort. A deep front zip again provides ventilation, while gusseted underarms give more freedom of movement.
