I grew up not too far from Keswick, started hill walking at the tender age of five or six years old, and have never really stopped mountaineering and travelling since. These days, apart from getting out and about on the fells generally, I’m steadily notching up callouts with Keswick Mountain Rescue Team as well as leading walks in the UK and abroad for HF Holidays. I do occasional freelance work on professionally-organised events (Water Aid, Global Challenge, Youth Adventure Trust, etc.), as well as with Rather Be Cycling, Glaramara, More Than Mountains and Bigwalks.

Various trips over the years have seen me travelling and exploring mountains everywhere from Scotland to Slovenia, from Greenland to New Zealand, from Ecuador to Azerbaijan, from Kenya to Cuba ... and a memorable three months spent in Chile as a trek leader for Raleigh International. Living in Keswick gives me the chance to go rock climbing most weeks, but my kayak just languishes in the garage – there just never seem to be enough hours in the day, or days in the week!

Working at George Fisher UK I am reminded constantly of just how far clothing and equipment has advanced over the years. We are very lucky these days, with so much great gear on offer. If I can help people to choose and get the best out of what’s right for them, then so much the better! (photo credit: bigwalks.com)
