Navigation and Mountain Safety - Friday 8 March

Event Date: 08 March 2019 - 08 March 2019 Location: Start at George Fisher

Join George Fisher staff member, Paul, a qualified Mountain Leader and Keswick Mountain Rescue Team member for a taster session on navigation and mountain safety.

The aim is to boost your personal confidence in using a map and compass to:

  • navigate safely (including in poor visibility / mist) and to relocate if lost
  • give your location to mountain rescue if you or your party are injured
  • plan a route suitable for the weather conditions, including escape routes
  • understand how a smartphone can help and when a GPS is more useful

(This is not a GPS training course, though, this is 'navigation without batteries').

Cost: £20 per person, which will be donated in full to Keswick MRT
