Event Date: 10 September 2019 - 05 November 2019 Location: George Fisher, Keswick, UK
As part of the England Athletics Run Together campaign we are very excited to be bringing a 'Couch to 5K' program to our running events.
Jenni Whittaker will be leading these runs and they run for 9 weeks. Jenni has a Keswick C25K group on Facebook that you can join HERE.
Meeting here at George Fisher ready for a 6.45pm start (please arrive 5 mins before). The main session will last half an hour with a walk to and from the park on top of that.
RunTogether has been created by England Athletics, the membership and development body for grassroots athletics and running in England, to provide fun, friendly, inclusive running opportunities for everyone in England.
Ella started running in September 2012. She joined a group of ladies in Keswick and started a Couch to 5k program. The 10 of them started running on the railway line and met on Wednesday nights. Ella joined the group because she had tried to start running on her own but was battling an ingrained idea that she couldn’t run. With the C25k she learnt to run walk run walk, she needed to, she struggle to run for a minute without stopping. Gradually her mileage and time increased. She remembers now a little rise on a lake loop, she couldn’t run up it when she started, now she runs up mountains! Ella did her 1st 5k along the railway line and felt like ‘Forrest Gump’, she hasn’t stopped running since.
FREE but please let us know if you are joining us by joining our Facebook Event.
To join and keep up-to-date with this 9 week program and other running activities, join our George Fisher Run Club.
Our first C25K had a great turnout with a graduation 5k run completed at Keswick Parkrun on the 8th of December, 2018.
