Today’s Fisher’s Favourite is Natalie Hawkrigg.
Natalie emigrated with her family to Australia when she was 16, and she studied for a medical degree at the University of Western Australia in Perth. During a gap year in 1997, Natalie met her husband, author and professional sports photographer, Steve Razzetti, and moved to Cumbria.
Natalie is a GP at Caldbeck Surgery at the Northern edge of the Lake District, and a keen runner.
“How would I describe my self? Local rural GP, mother of 3 boys, and a 'try hard' fell runner.
I live near Keswick 'Back 'O' Skiddaw' near Hesket Newmarket.
I have chosen my favourite item of clothing to share. My much loved Haglof's Gram running jacket. I bought it 6 years ago after I consulted with my 'go-too-person' at George Fischer's on all matters to do with running kit - Lisa ‘Bergerhaus’. It's a serious jacket that can cope with all types of weather. Unless the conditions are perfect I would never leave home with out it. This jacket is totally waterproof but still has the stretch and breath-ability, plus it is lightweight and blizzard resistant. I don't take it on short/medium fell races (slightly bulky for my bum bag) but I do take it on long fell races just in case. Sadly, it is no longer in production in it's exact form (why do companies do that?!!) - so I am a bit at a loss to know what to do when I come to replace it. I guess I will have to go back to Lisa - I am sure she will have something to recommend!. I feel proud to have done the #nocurealwayshopeultra 10in10 in 2016 and was joint first lady to complete it. I am one of the founding members of the Northern Fells Running Club @northernfellsrc #northernfellsrc I was joint female winner of the 23 mile Old Crown round in 2017, along side #skiddawhouse warden Suzanne Brett.
My proudest fell running moment is completing the Bob Graham in May 2016 in 22 hours. In the photograph I am wearing my much loved Haglof's jacket and celebrating reaching the final summit on the Bob Graham - Robinson (summit No 42).”
We'd love to hear your stories too!
