I’ve been wearing Montane’s Ineo Lite Pants for a couple of months now, and have logged numerous days of climbing, hiking, scrambling and running wearing them. Designed as a lightweight mountain legging, I’ve found the Ineo Lites perform incredibly well in the UK’s warm spring conditions as of late, and they have now become my go-to legwear for days in the hills. Fit: These leggings are designed with a super stretchy fabric that means they fit closely to my legs, without feeling too tight.

They have a large waistband that adds extra comfort, and no zips or straps, making them lightweight, simple and comfortable to wear. The only added feature is the side pocket in the thigh, which perfectly fits a phone, small map, compass or lens cap - depending on your chosen activity! I’d probably recommend down-sizing in the leggings to ensure you get the best fit.

Performance: The first thing I noticed about the montane leggings was how light and airy they felt. Upon wearing them for a morning trail-run, I discovered that they’re also incredibly breathable. I tend to choose to wear the leggings when conditions are supposed to be dry and mild, and have found them to keep my temperature cool, but add a small amount of protection against the elements. The leggings move really well with my body when running or climbing thanks to the stretchy material.

Despite the fabric being very lightweight, I’ve worn the leggings a few times when bouldering on gritstone and have yet to notice any signs of wear. This has made them one of the more versatile pieces in my gear drawer, and resulted in me wearing them for North Wales trad climbing, trail-runs in Yorkshire, hiking in the Peak District and gritstone bouldering in the Dales - I’m not yet sure what they can’t do!

Saying that, if conditions were wet and cool, I’d probably opt for something with a little more protection, and I would also have chosen the smaller size for a tighter fit. All in all, I’m a huge fan of Montane’s Ineo Lite Pants and know I will be wearing them for a multitude of adventures over the summer.
