Ideal for two people who want to go as light as possible, the Niak is also a veritable lightweight palace for one person.

The Hilleberg Niak expands on Hilleberg's concept of very lightweight yet remarkably strong three-season tents that started with the Enan. Its dimensions accommodate two people, but its single door and lengthwise vestibule make it somewhat less comfortable than other two-person tents, so the Niak is especially good for a parent and a child, or for one person and a dog. It is also the perfect three-season solo tent when you want to be as comfortable as possible at a low weight.

As with their other Yellow Label models, the Hilleberg Niak's outer tent is made from lightweight Kerlon 1000, and it is supported by DAC NSL 9 mm poles. Its simple, two-pole design is quick to pitch and very stable, and the single vestibule can be completely rolled away to maximize airflow through the full mesh inner tent door. In addition, catenary curves along the bottom edges of the outer tent create space that allows for constant airflow and ensures that the outer tent is stretched properly for optimal performance.

Prior to its introduction, the Niak went through well over 250 backcountry nights of use, in all types of weather, in Scandinavia and the US, as well as in the Alps and in Scotland. Two-person users appreciated its light weight, and solo users loved that it offered such roomy luxury at such a surprisingly low weight. All proclaimed it as an outstanding choice for any summer or warm weather trip.

Niak 1.5 tent

I wanted a quality spacious tent for 1 person that can be carried strapped to the outside of a 38 litre pack and that's precisely what I've got. I was choosing between getting this, an Akto or a Nordisk and think I've made the right decision. Easy and quick to put the tent up. Nice sized porch for storage. Good headspace inside, both sitting/kneeling and plenty of space lying down - I'm 5ft 10ins - head and toes don't touch the walls of the inner. A couple of useful internal pockets and loops to hang a line (I use an old shoelace) inside the tent. Rather than a footprint, I use a large orange survival bag under the groundsheet, which serves just as well. Looks to be the usual high quality from Hilleberg (I already have a Nallo).

Rolls Royce of Tents

Couldn't wait to receive my Hilleberg Niak, having decided on the brand & model after extensive research, and deciding on the 'Rolls Royce' of tentmakers. I have only done a trial pitch so far, but the quality, feel, and attention to detail is unbelievably good and knocks my MSR tent into a cocked hat. I am planning a wild camp later this month where I can try it out in anger, but I'm sure it will continue to exceed my expectations.
