ALTBERG GOES WIDE

Specialist British boot-maker Altberg has made it easier to find the perfect fit, by launching two new boots.

Both the Keld and Kisdon boots use Altberg’s new G-Fit last, which provides more volume and width, giving wider fit options to people for whom their existing Malham and Nordkapp boots are too narrow.

Crucially, the Keld and Kisdon feature wider midsoles and outer soles. Sounds like something you’d expect, but most wider boots simply plonk a wider upper on a standard sole to save cost. The G-Fit midsoles and soles allow the wider foot to sit in a properly proportioned forefoot area, giving greater comfort.

As Altberg master bootmaker Mike Sheehan says,

“We don’t create new lasts as a marketing ploy; we developed G-Fit because we are aware there are so many people with high volume feet that experience genuine difficulty with boot fitting. There is no such thing as a ‘one fits all’ fitting system; you can’t cut corners.”

The Altberg Keld (£180.00) is a traditional 2-3 season walking boot with a seamless one-piece construction, made from first-grade 2.6mm Italian Nubuk leather with a Sympatex waterproof/breathable lining and a full rubber rand, Vibram sole and Tri-flex midsole combining to offer strong support and traction.

The Kisdon (£220.00) 3-season boot similarly uses a seamless Italian Nubuk one-piece upper with a Sympatex waterproof lining, but in a higher ankle design giving greater support. There’s a full rubber rand, Vibram sole and Tri-flex midsole; lacing extends further towards the toe for more adjustability.
