Abraham's Cafe has an Upgrade in 2018

In 2018 we decided that the Cafe and our Customer Toilets needed an upgrade and a refit. This change means that our staff will have a bigger area to work in behind the scenes and everything else will have a face lift.

CC Build Solutions are doing all the building work and will be on premises for the whole of January completing all the major changes. We have a team of people looking at new fixtures and fittings and there's going to be a bit of a colour change as well. Everything will be in keeping with our George Fisher heritage.

Fred and the kitchen team are looking at new menu items and practicing cooking and preparing them. Jan and her Cafe team are helping out on the shop floor with our annual stock take and also taking some holiday time. Both teams are going to face some challenges in the first few days of reopening but there's a lot of thought and planning gone into making sure they will have a bigger and easier area to work in.

Week 3 and we had a slight delay with the stairs and a few adjustments that had to be made. Regardless though the stairs went in and they look perfect. We still get lots of light through the large side windows, we still have the 'Fisher Fun House' under the stairs for the children and the cafe' floor area has increased as well as the area on the 1st floor. Next stage is the finishing touches but the opening has been delayed by a week, the cafe and toilets are due to open Thursday 8th February, 2018.

Week 4 and the team from CC Build Solutions took down the temporary wall that was set up to keep the building works separate from the shop area. There are still a few final touches to be made and the Cafe' is due to open on Thursday 8th February, only a week later than originally planned so we're happy.

The 'Fisher Fun House' still exists under the stairs, the space in the cafe' has increased and we have an exciting new children's clothing section area. Our customer toilets have also had a face-lift.

It looks new and shiny but we've kept as much memorabilia and that 'George Fisher' feel, we hope you all like it as much as we do.
