Our first feature to let you know more about our 'Boot Up Your Weekend' is on our keentrail fit events. Laura Kennington, an ambassador from KEEN will be joining us for our Big Boot Room Opening weekend and giving you the opportunity to have a 'Walk' experience. KEEN will also be bringing along shoes you can test, both the Terradora and the Targhee. Over the weekend we have two walks on each day:

Family walk - 10.30am at the shop

Numbers are limited to 12 people so book yours now to grab a place. Children with an accompanying adult are welcome to join us. Dogs are also welcome but please have them on a lead, clean-up after them and be aware that while dogs are welcome in the shop, our Abraham's Café is a dog-free zone.

So, what is a KeenTrail fit walk I hear you ask? Who better to let you know a little bit more than Keen Ambassador Laura herself. We caught up with Laura to speak to her about what to expect...

What is TrailFit and what does it mean to you?

TrailFit to me is all about making the most of your surroundings, wherever you are. It’s about getting outside, having a good time and eliminating the barriers that can prevent people from getting active – no gym membership required!

How will TrailFit make a difference to someone coming along?

My TrailFit sessions are designed to give people ideas that mean they can turn any city landscape into a fitness playground.  The sessions are accessible to all fitness levels and they are designed to be fun as a priority!  

What can people expect from the trailfit walk, the general walk and the family walk?

Time spent outdoors is time spent well. Whether you want to mix up your routine or link in with a community, I aim to make sure everyone leaves with a smile!

What can you tell us about the Terradora or the Targhee?

The Terradora is a very lightweight hiking shoe – really comfortable and durable against the elements but also incredibly versatile. They have become my first choice for any adventure – whether hiking in the mountains of Wales, rambling around the trails of the Lake District or just rushing around London!

• Make sure you have your clothing for all seasons i.e. waterproofs, warm layers and sunglasses (you never know)
• If you are bringing a dog; lead and poo bags
• If your a little person you might want a snack for the road and make sure you have a grown up with you
• Pack your sense of adventure and be ready for some fun in a beautiful location
• Check the time and place and turn up

Tickets are £5 with all money going to the West Cumbria Rivers Trust 'Offset Your Trek' campaign.
