Millican - Coloured by the Lake District at George Fisher

Earlier this Summer we wandered familiar paths to Sprinkling Tarn, in the shadow of Scafell Pike, with friend and photographer Jim Marsden.

Accompanied by a couple of Maverick travel companions, we noted the ever-changing colour palette of our local landscape, a palette that has inspired such a variety of creatives for hundreds of years. Including our team at Millican HQ.

When we returned, Jim shared his thoughts on the scenery we call home, and the beauty of its transformation as the seasons change.

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts” said the philosopher Aristotle, and this might hold true, but without the separate parts there would be no whole.

Look closer at the landscape of the Lake District and you’ll see the colours and textures that combine to make it; exposed granite lumps left by retreating glaciers, short shorn grass manicured by the thousands of sheep, dry stone walls made by many hands lacing across the fells, Spring and Summer sprouting leaves, cold and clear becks flowing at the edge of fields, Autumn browning of ferns on the fell sides.

It’s the culmination, the working together of all these separate colours that has inspired poets, writers, painters and millions of visitors every year to tramp across the fells and gaze upon the harmony of colours, a mixture that holds our gaze and affects all who visit the Lake District.

This month Millican have captured the colour palette of the place we call home, within our Lake Road Window Display. To celebrate its launch, we’re giving away three of their iconic rucksack - Smith the Roll Pack 18L, along with 3 limited edition George Fisher Buff’s. **COMPETITION ENDED 19th July**
