KE Adventure Travel George Fisher Kit List Inca Trail

Anne and husband Jim are living the retirement dream. They have created a travel 'bucket list' and with the help of local company KE Adventure Travel, they are ticking them off. Despite the fact she's retired, Anne works here in Fishers part time, it's a great way for her to get the right kit for the adventures they have planned.

They have just got back from doing the Inca Trail in Peru. KE Adventure runs several different options for this trip, list HERE. Anne and Jim went on the Inca Trail and Beyond trip which is described as..

'The Inca Trail is without doubt one of the world's greatest walks and as such should be relished, not rushed! We invite you to join us on our extended version of this iconic trek, which includes 4 additional days hiking in the peaceful Silque Valley and across the stunning Ancascocha Pass (4625m), where we are likely to encounter few other trekkers, before joining up with the classic Inca Trail and entering Machu Picchu via the iconic ‘Sun Gate’. In 7 days of walking we will cross high passes, follow stone pathway created by the Incas over four centuries ago and enjoy tremendous views of spectacular forested valleys and of the snow-capped peaks of the Vilcabamba, like the mighty Salkantay (6271m). Extending our time in the mountains also helps to ensure that we are well acclimatised by the time we join the Inca Trail meaning that we can enjoy every step and really make it a walk to remember. Before our hike we will enjoy time exploring the vibrant and colourful ancient Inca capital of Cusco and the Sacred Valley of the Incas, with 2 days of sightseeing and acclimatisation including visits to the fortresses at Sacsayhuaman and at Ollantaytambo. With blue glacial lakes, cloud forest, orchids, hummingbirds, magnificent Inca settlements and stone-paved trails, there is no other short trek in the world that offers such a variety of experiences. This is the Inca Trail for trekking aficionados!'

Rab Mantra Jacket - The Women's Mantra Jacket from Rab is lightweight, durable and highly flexible. Ideal for climbers and mountaineers, this jacket has been designed for movement, breathability and comfort. Anne loved this jacket because of it's breath-ability, trekking in Peru, up steep ascents, is hard work and not over heating is important. It also has a high rainfall so keeping dry and cool is what this jacket is designed for. It packs down small and doesn't rustle so is perfect for travelling. 

Haglofs Aran Gillet - Made to manage the challenges of mountaineering. Provides core protection as well as moisture management, through its special waffle-structured high loft lining. Fluorocarbon free DWR adds peace of mind. A snug, cosy, fitted hood boosts the comfort and warmth factors. Anne loved this gillet/vest for the cooler mornings and nights at altitude, it allowed her to keep warm without overheating until her body warmed up with the days heat.

Salomon Wayfarer Pants - Lightweight and really versatile, the WAYFARER STRAIGHT PANT moves with you, dries quickly and stands up to all kinds of abuse on the trail. It's ideal for all outdoor activities. The straight fit transitions easily from hiking to boarding a plane or strolling the city. Anne loved these trousers and even though she carried some shorts with her, said she didn't need them, these trousers were cool enough that they suited the warmer weather. They are great with thermals underneath as well so perfect for sitting in camp when it gets a bit colder.

Anne said she genuinely didn't think she could have done this trek as easily without these poles. Anne and Jim are keen fell runners and were very fit and able to do this trek but said the poles made their days more pleasurable and recovery so much better.

The long sleeved one in pic was ideal for keeping arms covered in intense heat and in lower valleys when mosquitos were buzzing around' The top is made from Polartec® Power Grid® fabric with Polygiene® permanent odour control has a smooth face for easy layering. Fair Trade Certified™ sewn. Fabric’s brushed-grid pattern next to skin provides superior warmth, breathability and moisture-wicking performance. The lightweight briefs are made from a stretchy performance fabric treated with miDori® bioSoft for enhanced moisture-wicking performance and Polygiene® permanent odour control.
