The Arc’teryx Big Mountain Weekend

Written by George Fisher

The Arc’teryx Big Mountain Weekend is back again in the beautiful Langdale Valley on the 8th - 10th May 2020. Join us for clinics aimed to educate and improve your mountain and crags skills with the very best instruction from the International School of Mountaineering.

Tickets are available from the 1st March online HERE https://www.arcteryxlakelandrevival.com/big-mountain-weekend/book-clinics/

As always we’ve adapted and tweaked the clinics and this year we are proud to introduce three new ones.

  • MSR & Thermarest Overnight Wild Camp

  • Fine Tune Your Trad Lead Climbing (including a women’s only clinic)

  • Arc’teryx Environmental Clinics: Sphagnum Moss Planting and Tree Planting

Find out more information on the clinics via the booking page HERE https://www.arcteryxlakelandrevival.com/big-mountain-weekend/book-clinics/

On Friday evening come and enjoy live music, BBQ and beer at the Sticklebarn event base camp (please note Friday 8th is early May BH). Plus our event partners will also be on hand to offer the very best advice, demo gear and samples all weekend.

The Langdale Climbing Challenge will be running again over this weekend only. Participants are invited to choose anything from our suggested hand-picked Langdale route card; a single climb or a full day mountain link up. Everyone that takes part will receive a free limited edition Lakeland Revival DMM carabiner.

Give something back: Environmental Clinics

Did you know Sphagnum moss absorbs more CO2 per sqm than the rainforest? It plays an important part in the fight against climate change by trapping carbon dioxide and retaining water.

This year we have partnered up with Cumbria Wildlife Trust to run two environmental clinics over the weekend, one will be to transplant peat-forming Sphagnum mosses onto bare ground to help fight erosion. The other will be helping to plant native trees and learning about the benefits for wildlife, climate and flood mitigation.
